Navigation, not Facilitation

Honesty starts at home

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but facilitation is lame.

Ask yourself; when you enter a new semantic space, when you seek to learn something new, would you like facilitation? Or would you like guidance?

The Golden Rule asks us to treat others as we would want to be treated. We hate the idea of intermediaries getting in the way of what matters.

Truth is somewhere out there

We hire navigators because they know where they're going. This feels like a useful quality for a discussion.

Would you prefer a conversation where no one knew where it was going?

Those can be fun. Spontaneity, randomness, the exuberance of casual discovery are pretty awesome when unintentional.

Navigators help you go where you want

But you come to a Rough Harbor to go somewhere. Why else would you pay to spend time with people?

It might feel daunting to have someone tell you where you are going. That's good. Life is short, live your truth.

Navigators aren't teachers. And they aren't peers, exactly. And they definitely aren't 'facilitators' trained to smooth over rough edges. (That seems self defeating.)

Navigators are to your community what a GPS is to cars. They help you get to where you want to go.
